Description
Ft Bragg Sunset,
Ft. Bragg is a wonderful Northern California seaside town that has been through many changes over the last century. The origins of the town date back to the mid 1850's when the Bureau of Indian Affairs were searching for an area to establish an Indian Reservation.
During the summer of 1887 1st Lt. Horatio G. Gibson, then serving at the Presidio of San Francisco, established a military post on the Reservation.
Since then it has made a few transitions that have kept the community alive. For many years from the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's Ft Bragg was a big lumbering town. It has also served as a fishing village with many fishing for Salmon.
During the 80's and 90's as the Salmon population started to decline and the Federal Government started limiting the catch and permits the town struggled.
With all that being said, Ft. Bragg is a wonderful seaside town with beautiful beaches, nice restaurants, and a couple of local breweries. Well worth spending a few days and nights checking out the local scene.
